GOLD AWARD, LIFESTYLE AWARD WINNER & BATHROOM AWARD 2010CATEGORY WINNERInvercargill Residental Home New Homes $600,000 - $1 millionThe client's instructions to the building company were simple. "I only want to do this once, so I want to do it properly and professionally, thats why I have selected you!". This statement was to set the standards required for this exciting build. Encompassing six car garage, four bedrooms, three living areas and two levels, the creation of this 720m2 home was a unique opportunity, eagerly anticipated and skillfully crafted from inception to completion. Visitors to the home are momentarily awestruck as they pull into the drive and view the garaging either side and admire the schist pillars and linear weather board with double-glazed argon-filled feature aluminium joinery, all setting the scene for entry to a truly stunning home. Entrance to the home is via rescued and recycled Regent Theatre Doors, a unique touch to a modern residence. The foyer is adorned by two marvellous motor bikes and the delightful, spacious hallway leads to the living, dining and kitchen areas. The atmosphere in the living area is set by the wonderfull colour decor and artefacts collected by the homes occupants throughout the years. A feature schist fireplace with a 500kg rock mantle sits pride of place at the east end of the living area. Creating a seamless connection with the outdoors, all doors off the master bedroom and living areas lead to the beautifully landscaped grounds. A wide verandah with borrowed lights lets in generous light while providing necessary cover when the seasons dictate. Each room is zoned and automatically sensored for heating requirements. The spiral balustrade up to the first level and feature glazing both intertwine to create a unique centre piece of the staircase. The 2200mm high panelled doors with antique door hardware compliment the interior design layout for this stunning home. SILVER AWARDSouthern Kids Learning Centre Hall Bros Group Education Project AwardThe builders chosen for this project were absolutely thrilled to win the tender for the Southern Kids Early Learing Centre. From past experience, involvement in the construction of a learning centre for the younger generation has provided much satisfaction, but seeing the plans and proposed equipment these lucky youngsters were going to receive added a further exciting dimension to the build. Driven timber piles prior to the concrete foundations being laid created the secure platform from which the centre began. 150 x 50 timber framed walls with studs reaching 4.8m at 400cc made for a solid timber construction. Monopitch roof lines provide a modern touch and ensure maximum sun advantage allowing for natural heating in addition to the under floor heating and thermal insulation. Covered external heated play areas maximise comfort for the children and brightly coloured walls and play equipment make this centre a very exciting and comfortable learning facility.
