My business is Property Development and I previously owned RJ Cunningham Ltd, a building company, up until 2003. Kelvin O'Connell was employed by RJ Cunningham Ltd for approximately 10 years before he purchased the business and changed the name to Cunningham Building & Construction Limited.

RJ Cunningham traded for approximately 20 years and carried out large developments including contracts at the NZ Aluminium Smelter, Farmers Retail Complex and the biggest percentage of Leven Street Development. I also saw an opportunity to develop a large number of the existing retail outlets in Leven Street and CBC Ltd has carried out most of the construction to date. We found the CBC Ltd management teams handling of our contracts to be extremely reliable and on-going communications on site and during production ensured the projects went smoothly. The quality of the workmanship demonstrated by the CBC team was outstanding and their staff were always well organised, approachable and extremely helpful.

Not only has CBC constructed most of our buildings but they also carry out our maintenance work and renovation work when required.

We have 65 commercial tenants in Invercargill and CBC has constructed a high percentage of our buildings and I have no problem in recommending this company to anyone considering building either a commercial or residential property.

I first approached Cunningham Building & Construction Ltd to discuss renovation of the home we were living in. I appreciated the honesty in which Cunningham's reported that the renovation we were planning was impractical and should not be proceeded with. That is, they talked themselves out of a job.

Following this we made the decision to build a home but had concerns around ensuring our quality standard was met and that the house was built within our budget. I quickly discovered through the very enjoyable process that the standards of Cunningham Building & Construction team were at least as high as my own, in some cases higher, and I never had a concern at any stage that every facet of the building was being looked at from the long term quality point of view. The builders were thinking ahead, making decisions which they ran by us for approval but with recommendation that assisted us in the decision making process. The result is a house that we are extremely happy to be in and proud of.

The house became a winner in the Otago / Southland Registered Master Builder Awards for homes in that price range and a gold medal winner as well. It went onto the New Zealand National final of the House of the Year Awards.

Southern Motor Group is a leading motor vehicle dealer company with Mitsubishi, Peugeot, Nissan, Suzuki, Subaru, Volkswagen and Landrover Franchises based at 209-221 Dee Street Invercargill.

Cunningham Building & Construction Ltd were approached by Ken Cummings and Trevor Boyle to investigate some building renovation options and came forward with plans and a written proposal to amalgamate three sections into one title and relocate and rearrange franchises into existing buildings and new state of the art workshop with a centralised administration centre.

The work proceeded and great care and consideration was undertaken by all CBC Ltd staff to ensure minimal disruption was caused to our day to day operation and after eight months of construction we opened the doors to our new dealership showrooms and new workshop to service all franchise vehicles.

We still employ CBC Ltd to carry out any additional work required on our premises and have a very good on going working relationship and have no hesitation in recommending them to prospective developers and landlords for Design & Building projects. Our experience was very much a pleasure, communication was consistent, timing was exactly as per programme and final build costs were within allotted budget.

Cunningham Building & Construction constructed the new facility that Living Cell Technologies commissioned in October 2008. The building was completed in June 2009 and is now fully operational.

During the design and construction of our building near Invercargill, Cunningham Building & Construction proved to be positive, helpful and efficient. They helped with elements of design and had great cost saving ideas for construction. The team of builders kept the construction site clean and tidy at all times. The packaging from materials received on site and other items were recycled.

I would like to sincerely commend and thank you and your team for their services around our school.

We have now completed three contracts with you that have greatly enhanced our school.

We have worked with Phillip Blakely who has designed a total grounds refurbishment. The first stage enhanced our hall and staffroom area that had recently been constructed but left surrounding area serverly wanting attention.

Secondly the surrounds of our library was limited in its usability and lacking in appearance. Your teams approach was superb, getting the job done, under budget, in a shorter timeframe than expected and to a very high standard.

The major project or phase three has been the integration of the school fencing and gates along with signage and children's playground. We are delighted with the finish, concept and the way it has met our needs.
