RMB Awards 2005
GOLD AWARD CATEGORY WINNERJames Hargest High School Senior Campus Library Redevelopment (Commercial Award)The exterior of this fantastic library has been designed to create a building that has some landmark quality. The core library building had to match the curtain glass frontage to the quad. The existing library building has been retained keeping its best features such as the impressive timber beams and large ceiling height in the main library area. Additional features now enhance the library as a modern information centre for the school. The library area has increased in size by 50%. The crisp clear and unobstructed views within the library and to the bag storage area are greatly improved. The frontage of the quad has four columns. These act as a focal point in the quad and have been given subtle decorative capitals that are individually lit. Overall the library has retained its best features while additional modifications have made it a modern functional outstanding building. |
