Robotic Milking Systems

Building a bigger future...

In 2008 the first Automated/Robotic Milking Sheds were introduced in New Zealand.

CBC Ltd was approached by JJ's Ltd to construct and design a building to house four Robotic Milking Units. This pioneering technology required detailed and precise planning to enable efficient operation and future proofing. The interior of the building had to be clean, bright and non restrictive, to allow the livestock to enter and exit the building freely 24 hours per day.

Critical consideration prior to any work starting included the correct placement of all services, underground and overhead.

The completed building enables 240 cows to be milked three times in a 24 hour period with maximum of two staff required to oversee the operation, however much of the automation replaces the need for any staff to be present.

This Hilton five star milking operation includes lundi back probes, automated feeding and watering system and robotic udder and teat washing treats.

The digital recording and milk sampling system enables tracking of individual cows milking and their health and well being.

The higher yield of milk productivity is testimony to the increased welfare of the herd.
